Some random thoughts on 'ajaxWrite'
I tried to post these comments on author's blog but i guess they went down the drain. A very nice online document processor. Anyways, i have some thoughts and wanted to share. Can we really compare ajaxWrite with Writely? Should Google have bought ajaxWrite? The last question suggests an interesting case, to me atleast :)
My argument, based on the last question, is threefold
1)-It only works on FireFox and this is the first big indicator why Google rightly missed it. More than 68 % of browser market is occupied with IE and you just can't ignore it. If i use IE and i happen to come across ajaxWritely and it doesn't work on my browser then i just don't give a flip about it, doesn't matter how cool the application is. I just won't remember it.
2-)Writely had quite a user base. I guess it was over 150K, however, i am not sure about the exact figure.
3)-Writely founders have long been into document-software and they had quite a credibility as well.
Moreover its called the first-mover advantage , just my two cents :)
