Ready To Rock?
So finally Visual Studio 2005; SQL Server 2005 and BizTalk Server 2006 are out; let’s see when they will be available in local markets </smile> BTW; their theme is cool; Ready to Rock?
Till we get our hands on Visual Studio and SQL Server 2005; we can try their Express versions; the Visual Studio lineup (Visual C# 2005 Express, Visual C++ 2005 Express etc) is free for first year; you can download and continue to use it for free even beyond the first year.
SQL Server 2005 Express is totally free; and I have planned to upgrade my “Willingdon” project that I coded for fun (to learn Windows Forms). My personal thought is; that SQL Server 2005 will have major impact on the way we design and architect software today on Microsoft platforms. Oracle has also announced the beta for their express edition of Oracle 10g. Its good to have a light weight and free database engines!
I wish I can try BizTalk Server; but it has lot of dependencies; I have already complained about. They should have a BizTalk Light or BizTalk Express version as well.
DotNetNuke (DNN) folk have also made two releases available; 3.2 and 4.0. DNN’s ClientAPI has incorporated AJAX concepts in form of call backs. I have to check how many ASP.NET v2 features are embraced in these releases, especially 4.0. My first impression so far is that they yet have not started using Webparts feature.
The Blog module for DNN is also released
