Side affects of marriage

After marriage (it’s been more than 4 years now) the few differences I have noticed in my life are

  • I drive comparatively slow and with more care; especially when my family is with me; I think this is positive change; my car maintenance expenditures are reduced
  • I try not to do anything that will take long hours in after-noon; as I am suppose to be back to spend some time with my son; I miss doing those “fun experiments” and “playground projects” sometimes….
  • I have to wake early to drop my son to his school; but overall it’s a better experience; earlier I used to spend time surfing in night; now its early in morning
  • Few others, the usual one I guess…which should remain unsaid </smile>

  • I don’t like listening, playing music anymore; I still cannot figure it out how it happened…

  • I have to attend family functions…especially of my in-laws, but luckily my in-laws and my parents live in same town so I don’t mind traveling </smile>

I even had to visit Faisalabad yesterday for this last reason. It was engagement ceremony of my cousin; and being married I had to attend it to represent my little family!! It was a hectic day; dropped my son to his school; picked my sister cousin from DHA; went Faisalabad on Daewoo (inter city bus service) (I hate lot of driving; thanks to my sister cousin who agreed to go by bus). We reached home by noon; changed; went to our uncle’s place; had a lunch there. Attended the ceremony and a family chit chat session; came back to home; had our tea, got late, rushed to Daewoo station but missed it., came back Lahore on another bus service, and it dropped us on new bus terminal at Yateem Khana. Thanks to my sister-cousin’s husband who was there to pick us. I reached my Lahore home by 8PM, dead tired. Had my dinner and slept right away.

Here’s Google Map of my home-town….I couldn’t highlight my in-laws home; and hope my wife will not find this post!

I was raised by my parents at my old home; we had been living there since my parent’s wedding till my college. Then I moved away for my graduation and my parents started building our current home. The old home area was being commercialized, as you can even see from the map; there is less greenery there now…
