Dotnetnuke - (Re)Installing Modules

Dotnetnuke has pretty nice implementation of installing modules and skins etc. When DNN is first time installed; it install the base framework and shipped modules. These modules are in the /install/module folder (zip files with documented structure) After first time installation DNN removes these zip files.

If you reinstall the DNN; from the same uploaded files; DNN doesn’t install the modules as zip files get removed in the first installation. Simplest method is re-upload those zip files and visit http://PathToYourPortal/Install/install.aspx?mode=installresources and you will have your modules installed!

You can use the same technique to install your own custom modules; if you have created the zip file as per DNN spec you can upload that zip file to /install/module folder and visit the URL; your module(s) will get installed…
